Monkey Pants

I was googling name ideas for my blog when I came across monkeypants  in one of my searches.  They are ridiculously cute so I decided to try and make a pair for my little guy.  

This is my first pattern try.  Not great, but a good start.

More Maternity Upcycling

I'm not in love with this print, but it was a dirt cheap maternity shirt from Value Village.  It is made of a very thin, stretchy  material that was a pain in the butt to sew, but I do like the final result.  I used the raglan shirt pattern from Sewing for Boys.  It is the first item I have made from the book and was happy with the results.  The pattern is definitely not designed with the chubby toddler in mind, but I will adjust accordingly next time.  I really love the curve where the sleeves and body meet, but it is kind of hard to see with such a loud pattern.  

Shirt my Daughter Won't Wear

I upcycled this shirt for my daughter using a maternity shirt I will NEVER need again.  Hopefully.  She won't wear it, just cries "I no like it" every time I have tried to put it on her.  It's pretty big,so maybe she'll forget her hatred by next year?

I used the T shirt pattern from Sewing Clothes Kids Love.  I love this book, drool over the amazing clothes but have really only used it to make basics.

The flowers are based on this tutorial from Make it and Love it.

Lined Baby Pants

I cut these pants out of an old Gap shirt of my husband's a month before my little guy was born.  I finished them when he was two months old...

This is the free newborn pattern used to make them.  To accommodate for two months of growth I lined them and made the lining a little longer for some contrast and length.  I also used them hem of the shirt to make any easy waistband casing for added room at the top.  The fit is great for my long slim little guy.

I used the top stitched side seams of the shirt to add some easy detail to the front of the pants.  

All in all these are some of my favourite baby pants.  I love the weight and warmth of lined pants, and imagine they are much softer for little baby legs.
